I’ve read in more than one place that people are intimidated by interior designers. That was a huge surprise to me. But after I thought about it, I could see why. Even very intelligent and wealthy people don’t want to be judged as not having good taste.
When I enter a room for the first time, I’m actually picking up more on the vibes of the space. I sense the amount of light rather than the furnishings. If there is an abundance of light or if the space is extremely dark, I’m making a mental note that they may need more light control at their windows or perhaps they need more tables with lamps or the room needs to have light built in.
I am extremely neutral when I meet with someone for the first time. I need to find out who this person is and why they think they need an interior designer.
