It’s fun decorating the home for the holidays and buying presents for our family and friends, but how about buying a present for the home that everyone will enjoy throughout the year. Sometimes even the smallest thing can make a big difference. If you’ve conserved your money throughout 2010, perhaps you can now splurge on a major update or addition.
When looking for the most impact in your home decorating, there is probably no cheaper way to go than painting your walls. Color can make a dramatic difference in a room. Make sure it is the right color. I like using a dark color on the walls in sunrooms because there is usually very little wall space and lots of natural light. On the flip side, I like using dark colors in small rooms, such as a powder room, because it can make a tiny space feel very cozy and intimate. – Alexander Interiors, McLean, VA
