The foyer sets the tone and is the introduction for the entire home. That’s why the foyer is regarded as the most important room of your home. I love having a Persian carpet in the foyer. It adds color, pattern and softens the foyer floor in addition to being durable. If your foyer is two-stories tall, then I like using a tall furniture item in the foyer, such as a grandfather clock, secretary, tall bookcase, or highboy, etc. If you have the room, a bench of some sort is a great idea for a waiting guest or for taking off your boots.
