Getting the lighting right is crucial to a Family Room that must serve many purposes. To that end, you’ll want to “layer” the lighting in the room. On the ceiling you can use recessed lighting to either bathe the space in light or provide little spots to add a certain mystery to the space. To ensure sufficient task lighting, be sure to provide lamps on end tables or chests on either side of the sofa and next to chairs.
