A particularly hair-raising problem was when I had selected a marble statue and a stone fountain for inside a home. I inquired several times of the vendor the weight of each item. He kept saying it is not a problem. Well, it was a problem – over 1,000 pound problem. The client’s property was such that the items could not be driven to their back door. The contractor who procures stone for me had ten guys lift each piece down an incline to get to the back door and then inside the basement level. I lost many hours of sleep over that project. I was very grateful to my contractor. You can be the most creative interior designer in the world, but without contractors that you can count on to get the job done, you are at their mercy.
