Color: Selecting the Right Neutral for Resale

When getting a home ready for resale, select paint that will complement what is already there. People looking for a home to buy, make a judgment within seconds of entering the home.  You want a home that is well coordinated.  Avoid stark white walls unless you are going for an ultra modern look.

Before my mother’s double home was put on the market, my sisters and I decided to paint the upstairs after the tenants moved out.  There was dark stained trim and gold walls with a relatively new taupe carpet.  We painted the trim bright white and the walls a soft taupe to accentuate the taupe carpet.  The kitchen had green tile so I selected a soft pale green to accentuate the tile.  The home sold very quickly. – Alexander Interiors, McLean, VA
